Delete your
account

You can delete your AA Big Book account, and everything stored with it, at any time. It is free, and you do not need to give a reason.

In the app

1. Open the menu (top left) and choose Settings.
2. Choose Account, then Delete account.
3. Type DELETE to confirm.

Your account is deleted straight away.

If you cannot use the app

Email info@aabigbook.app from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We act only on a request that comes from that address, so that nobody else can delete your account, and we reply within one month.

What is deleted

• your account and email address;
• your Apple and Google sign-in links and all your signed-in devices;
• your notes, highlights, bookmarks and reading progress;
• your subscription records, your sign-in history and any pending sign-in links and codes;
• your support conversations.

What is kept, and for how long

• The record of each payment, and records of orders made in older versions of the app, without any link to you, for seven years, for our accounting.
• The record of the app installation on your device, which stays registered without an account, and any record of what our staff did on the account (for two years). Neither holds your name or email address.
• If your account came from an older version of the app, its old account number on its own, so that the account is not copied back from the older system.
• Copies in backups and logs disappear as those are replaced.

Your subscription

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google, so please cancel yours in your App Store or Google Play account settings. While it is still running, Apple or Google keep notifying us about it, and we hold a record of that subscription with nothing that links it to you.

Deleting only some of your data

You do not have to delete your account to remove what you have written. Delete any note, highlight or bookmark in the app and its text and colour are removed from our server too (a marker that it was deleted stays, so that your other devices remove it as well). To stop backing up altogether, switch sync off in Settings → Account. The full details are in our privacy policy.
